From the recording "Halloween" (click for lyrics)

“Halloween” is a song about witches swishing and laughing. The young person in the story could hear the “reaper” sharpening his blade – making them very afraid. They thought they heard bats shrieking, and ghosts booing (although it could have been an owl). And from far away they could heard a scream! Gotta run, run, run, gotta run away now … you know tonight is Halloween!

Lyrics

(V1) The wind is swishing the witches are laughing
I thought I heard a howl
Gotta run, run, run, gotta runaway now
It could have been just an owl, it could have been just and owl

(B1) I could hear the reaper sharpen his blade
I felt so very afraid

(V2) The bats are shrieking, the ghosts are booing
From far away I heard a scream
Gotta run, run, run, gotta run away now, you know tonight is Halloween, you know tonight is Halloween

(V3) The wind is swishing the witches are laughing
I thought I heard a howl
Gotta run, run, run, gotta runaway now
It could have been just an owl, it could have been just and owl

(B2) I could hear the reaper sharpen his blade
I felt so very afraid

(V4) The bats are shrieking, the ghosts are booing
From far away I heard a scream
Gotta run, run, run, gotta run away now you know tonight is Halloween, you know tonight is
Halloween

(End) You know tonight … is … Halloween!
